Fifty years after Alan Shepard became America's first astronaut, the US launched its last space shuttle, marking the end of our space program. And a new low for the American spirit.

During the next twelve years, Americans had little role to play in the cold war, except to prepare for the nuclear war that, for many anxious years, seemed inevitable.

Armed with this new cynicism, parents no longer encouraged their children to go to school with the aim of ultimately giving back to the community. A bright mathematics student who in an earlier era thought about contributing to the space program now imagined a lucrative job on Wall Street, fabricating an exotic derivative.

After three decades of change from an agrarian to an industrial society, China has now become the world's second-largest and fastest-growing economy. It is 10 times bigger than it was in 1978 and the nation has experienced the same degree of industrialization and social transformation as Europe did over two centuries.

I can't remember a time when the U.S. military has been stuck in so many war quagmires at once. Libya seems destined to fail unless the U.S. gets a lucky shot and kills Gaddafi. U.S. militarists are openly maneuvering to stay in Iraq -- the war Obama told us was over. Relations with nuclear-armed Pakistan are at their lowest levels ever. And, Afghanistan is getting worse with Obama's minimal, slow withdrawal looking more like staying than leaving.

Of course, Obama's wars are an outgrowth of George W. Bush's wars, just as some describe George Bush's invasion of Iraq as an outgrowth from the economic blockade of Iraq by Bill Clinton. Each of these presidents was the commander-in-chief of a more than 100 year old empire that since World War II has been dominated by a deeply embedded weapons and war industry. The empire seeks bases around the world especially where there are important natural resources and full-spectrum dominance of other nations.

Is siding with terrorists in an international conflict paramount to conducting an ethical foreign policy?

While attempts have been made to suppress information on the Internet, anyone can Google up "Libyan rebels" and then "images" or "you tube Libyan rebel war crimes".

We are in the midst of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. Even though the recession officially ended two years ago, there are still more than 25 million people who are unemployed, can only find part-time work or who have given up looking for work altogether. This is an outrage and a tragedy. These people's lives are being ruined due to the mismanagement of the economy.

Jo, je to tak...
A když o tom tak přemejšlím, vychází mi, že ten zásadní problém v současnosti u nás je přerozdělování. Přelozdělování sdola nahoru.
Píše se, že se ročně u nás rozkrade (korupcí hlavně) asi 100 miliard. Ale tyhle ohromný prachy zákonitě pak chybí a někdo je musí do státní kasy doplnit ! Podle současnýto trendu to jsou a budou nízkopříjmová a středně příjmová většina obyvytel.
A dál mi bohužel vychází, že jediná možnost při nejbližších volbách bude - volit komunisty. Ne, že by nám mohli vládnout (to je naprostá pitomost, protože do holportu s nima nikdo nepůjde) ale půjde o to, aby jich co nejvíc bylo v parlamentu. Aby měli sílu prosadit ty dva zákony, který současný trend můžou zvrátit :
Zákon o přiznání majetku - do 5ti milionů (s tím, že kdo neprokáže legální nabytí majetku, bude mu 100 % zdaněn)
a zákon o řízené provokaci (např. s tím, že kdo pomůže řízeně odhali korupci, připadnou mu nějaká ta procenta ze zachráněné částky).
Už jsem slyšel názor :
"Až u nás zavládne levice, to zas budem v pěknejch sračkách "!
A moje odpověď zní :
A v čem žijete teď ? To nejsou "sračky" ? (příklady ať si každý dosadí sám. A pokud nepatří do 17.OOO oficielně registrovaných multimilionářů u nás, najde jich víc, než dost ! Ho
