Former National Security Advisor Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday to discuss how income disparity in the United States could lead to civil unrest.

He said civil unrest was likely if the middle class became more severely affected by America’s growing income disparity and economic troubles.

“I don’t want to be a prophet of doom — and I don’t think we are approaching doom — but I think we’re going to slide into intensified social conflicts, social hostility, some forms of radicalism, there is just going to be a sense that this is not a just society,” Brzezinski said.

• Ohledně vyrovnání se s komunistickou minulostí vykročil premiér Petr Nečas správným směrem.
• Naopak kvůli exprezidentovi Václavu Havlovi a jeho pomatené ideologii v Česku komunismus jen kvete.
• Postoje bratří Mašínů, kteří žijí v USA, jsou pevné jako skála.
• Mladší bratr Josef také míní, že odškodnění účastníků třetího odboje je pouze symbolickou náplastí, protože jich až tak moc nebylo a skoro žádný už nežije.

Někde jsem četl, že EU plýtvá silami na pomoci Řecku, zatím co by měla přemýšlet, jak konkurovat Číně.
Vláda Nečase zas plýtvá silami na vyrovnávání se s minulostí komunismu, zatím co už je spíš načase začít se vyrovnávat s jeho budoucností. Co třeba začít zařazením čínštiny do státních maturit?

Are you in the government? Are you in the Rajapaksa family? If not, then the Chinese government is probably no great friend to you.

The Chinese are building ports, infrastructure and public spaces. Remember who did that last time? It was the British. The British colonial regime built roads, railways, infrastructure and the artificial port of Colombo. They imported docile labourers from India and paid off Sri Lankan elites to serve the regime. They also introduced legislation to allow for the outright sale of land.

• Číňané budují přístavy, infrastrukturu a veřejná prostranství. Pamatujete kdo to dělal naposledy?
• Byl to britský koloniální systém, který budoval silnice, železnice, infrastrukturu a umělý přístav Colombo.
• Importovali povolné dělníky z Indie a vypláceli ality Srí Lanky, které sloužily režimu.
• Také zavedli legislativu umožňující přímy prodej půdy.

What’s happening today? The Chinese are loaning money for road and rail projects in the north. They’re also giving loans for power and infrastructure and they built the artificial port of Hambantota. They import cheap Chinese labor, or deport their own prisoners as forced labor. In the process, they have bought off the Rajapaksa family with arms and funds. That family is now introducing legislation to allow foreigners to buy land outright and has already sold land near the Galle Face Green to a former arms supplier.

• Číňané půjčují poníze na projekty silnic a železnic na severu.
• Dávají také půjčky na elektrifikaci a infrastrukturu a postavili umělý přístav Hambantota.

So, by all the counts that matter to the Sri Lankan people, China is not our number one friend or partner. But they are number one to the ruling family.

The infrastructure is needed, but the loans and debt are not. And the Sri Lankan people would be wise to question the intentions of the people giving us ‘free money’. And they don’t really need you.

I agree with the writer. China is hard to read, hard to trust, and seems to have ulterior motives. Western countries are deemed more generous, especially in their gifts of scholarships in education. It seems the Rajapaksa’s are selling the country to the Chinese. We take their loans, pay them to build, employ their prisoners, and have to pay back the loans. It is always a win-win for China. The Rajapaksa family has chosen to be nice to China, because the Western countries calls for accountability, and China looks the other way when it comes to human rights violations, being accused of the same thing.

The United States is well on its way to becoming the most unequal society on the planet. An extensive economic analysis of the growing gap between the wealthy and everyone else, summarized in last Sunday’s Washington Post, provides striking evidence of this trend.

The United States is now far more unequal economically than any of the advanced industrialized countries of Europe and Asia, its main competitors in the world market. NATO practices in Libya are exactly like Israel's practices in Gaza: fishermen are killed as they go about their fishing business, a naval blockade allows arms to flow to NATO's Libyan allies, but stops food, fuel, and medicine from entering non-NATO ally-held areas. The entire population suffers as a result. Collective punishment is illegal when Israel practices it against the people of Gaza and collective punishment is illegal when NATO practices it.

At the heart of capitalism is the belief that if everyone is left to their own economic devices instead of being controlled by the state, then the result will be harmonious and more equal society and increasing prosperity. This clearly has not worked and we continue to witness the increasing marginalisation of the majority despite the recorded increases in GDP or foreign direct investment in Africa.

• V základu kapitalismu je víra, že když se každý ekonomicky zařídí podle svého, bez kontroly státem, bude výsledkem harmonická a více rovná společnost a rostoucí prosperita.
• To jasně nefunguje a jsme nadále svědky marginalizace většiny navzdory růstu HDP a zahraničních investic v Africe.

Economic solutions derived from western philosophy and thought have resulted in the increasing wealth gap between the developed world and Africa. Western economic philosophy serves the interest of the West and we in Africa cannot continue to blindly follow policies that do not work to solve our social conditions. In my option capitalism and its punt for free markets are not a solution to black economic emancipation.

• Ekonomická řešení odvozená ze západní filozofie a myšlení vyústilo v rostoucí propast mezi rozvinutým světem a Afrikou.
